Alkylglycosides have created a growing interest, not only due to their environmental characteristics, but also due to their excellent performance in relation to detergency.

One of the great advantages of alkylglycosides over traditional nonionic ones is that their solubility in aqueous media changes little in the presence of electrolytes, even if these are in high concentration. Alkylglycosides can be combined with all types of surfactants and often have a synergistic effect.

In general, alkylglycosides have a low environmental impact, as they are considered easily biodegradable and their aquatic toxicity is much lower than that of traditional surfactants.
