Cetrimonium Chloride 50%, also known as Cetyl Trimethyl Ammonium Chloride or CTAC, is a quaternary ammonium compound in a hydroalcoholic solution. Its origin can be natural and synthetic or only synthetic: its production typically uses products derived vegetable oils, such as palm and palm kernel oil, followed by chemical reactions the product is quaternized.
It acts as a cationic surfactant, meaning it has a natural affinity for negatively charged surfaces, such as hair fibers, fabrics, and even solid surfaces. This characteristic ensures efficient adhesion and a prolonged effect, making it an important active ingredient in various segments.
