EDTA Tetrasodium is a powder with chelating properties that can be used in a wide variety of applications to control water hardness (water rich in Calcium, Magnesium, Iron and other metal cations). Therefore, it is widely used in the cleaning of pipelines and boilers to remove incrustations generated by metals present in the water.
It is also worth mentioning its great importance in the stabilization of cosmetic formulations, cleaning products, textile auxiliaries and agrochemicals.
The presence of EDTA in an aqueous solution generates the removal of cations the aqueous medium, such as Fe2+, Fe3+, Ca2+ and Mn2+. The presence of these cations can negatively interfere with the performance of various formulations, as they can form unwanted precipitates and even decrease the performance of formulations containing anionic and cationic surfactants.
The use of EDTA in the formulation of disinfectants is also useful, as some of the cations present in water can act both as nutrients and as danger biosignalers for fungi and bacteria.
In the case of agribusiness, the use of EDTA Tetrasodium is very useful for the control of micronutrients.
